Converse, an American shoe company now owned by Nike, Inc., is probably one of the most well-known company for their athletic and safety shoes. This company has been making shoes since the early twentieth century, when Marquis M. Converse opened the Converse Rubber Shoe Company - also known as the Boston Rubber Shoe Company - in Malden, Massachusetts in 1908.
When the Converse company began to make athletic shoes in 1915, it became a turning point. Their Converse All-Star basketball shoe was introduced in 1917, and the company took off. During World War II, Converse shifted production to manufacturing footwear, apparel, boots, parkas, rubber protective suits, and ponchos for pilots and troops. But, during the 1970s, Converse felt the pinch when rivals such as Adidas, Nike and Reebok came on the scene.
Nike purchased the company in 2003, and the shoe remains popular among major athletic stars such as NBA players Dwyane Wade, Kirk Hinrich, Jameer Nelson, Andre Miller, Kyle Korver, Alando Tucker, Acie Law, Udonis Haslem, Maurice Evans and Elton Brand. Converse also developed a following among rock stars, who found comfort in this shoe while performing on stage. In fact, Converse debuted its third 1HUND(RED) Artists footwear collection for Holiday 2008 with a strong focus on emerging and established musicians and graphic artists as a source of artwork and inspiration. The Holiday 2008 collection offered a wide-range of new and exciting artists that used one of the world’s greatest blank canvases, the Converse sneaker, to help eliminate AIDS in Africa.
Customers can expect the same wonderful quality and comfort always offered from Converse. While the sports shoe maintains its fans, quirky designs such as the Converse sneaker high heel made waves in Paris as well as in the U.S. Other special editions of Converse shoes include the Kurt Cobain and the Sailor Jerry green or brown edition, which only 2,000 or so have been made. Three new designs were created for High Tops, inspired by the rock group, The Who. The Chuck Taylor All-Star basketball shoe, perhaps, remains the most well-known popular shoe that this company produces.

I am not in the opportunity to rate this particular model because I have nowhere to buy them in Croatia, and since I failed to order them via Converse internet site (due to the shipping which is not supported in Croatia) I will probably have to wear my old pair of converse sneakers for quite some time :(

If you can't make up your mind between hightops and regular sneakers, this might be your solution (like it was mine). I've heard where these shoes fell bad on people with low ankles, but I haven't had a problem. These shows are ok, but they look best with jeans.
